Travel Adventures of "Knot Kaos".

Farewell "Kaos"

January 2022 we sold our beloved "Kaos" a 55' Symbol pilothouse trawler. Following four summers exploring the gorgeous west coast areas of Washington and British Columbia. With a heavy heart, we decided it was time to sell and follow other adventures.

Fast forward to the summer of 2023, we yearned to be back on the water, realizing how much we missed the boating lifestyle and community. We began the search for a smaller, seaworthy trawler. After considerable research we settled on the American Tug 34'. Our decision to proceed was spurred on after reading an article about a Florida couple, Herb & Ruth Weiss, who at ages 97 and 104, yes, you read that correctly, had just purchased a new-to-them, 41' American Tug. Any thoughts we had about getting too old to boat to boat alone went out the window, and we followed another dream and found a 2006 American Tug 34 for sale in Chesapeake Virginia. We flew out the following day to check her out and the rest is history.

Introducing "Knot Kaos"

Our, new to us, 2006 American Tug 34

The plan for spring and summer 2024 is to depart Elizabeth City, where she spent the winter and head for Norfolk Viginia, to join the Spring Rendezvous for AGLCA (America's Great Loop Cruisers Association).
It has been 16 years since we travelled this route, completing our Loop in the fall of 2007.

This trip will include travel up the Inter-Coastal Waterway (ICW) of the East Coast of the US, through New York City and up the Hudson River and on through the Erie & Oswego Canals, crossing Lake Ontario to reach Kingston, Canada.
From Kingston we will head East to Trenton ON, where we will commence the transit of the Trent Severn Canal, ending at Big Chute Marine Railway, which will take us down into Georgian Bay at the upper portion of Lake Huron. Hopefully, time and weather will allow us to explore this gorgeous part of the lake, before heading south on Lake Huron, ending up in Sarnia ON or Port Huron MI, at the southerly most point of Lake Huron.
