"Knot Kaos" 2024 Travels - Elizabeth City NC to Port Huron MI

Internet service and the ability to post these blogs has been challenging. All to frequently, marinas advertising internet service is in name only and seldom, if ever works. Hence this post is almost 2 weeks overdue. Thankfully, we are at the Trent Port Marina in Trenton, Ontario and all services advertised are exceptional, including the internet, which works from the very far end of the dock! The Finger Lakes, New York State Located in west-central New York, the Finger Lakes region stretches about 80 miles east to west and 50 miles north to south. Eleven Finger Lakes range from small to large with Cayuga being the largest at 38 miles long.  Our travels focus primarily on Seneca Lake, the second largest of the eleven lakes with  Geneva located at the northern tip of Seneca Lake and Watkins Glen at the southern tip. After a delightful visit to Boldt Castle on the US side, we headed a short distance east to the Canadian side of the Thousand Islands.  Being Nexus card holders meant that we could dock at an approved site and call in to Canada Customs. We spoke with a pleasant, friendly officer in Victora, BC. After providing the requisite information and answering a few questions, we were given our clearance number, which must be clearly  displayed in a window for the duration of our stay.  We were then free to continue our travels. Mulcaster Island Our first stop was nearby Mulcaster Island, one of many Parks Canada sites in the Thousand Islands National Park.  Prior to our arrival, we purchased an annual pass, allowing us to overnight at Parks Canada docks and at locks along the Trent Severn and Rideau Canals.
